Fire Tommy Lasorda

Because it's time. Because, hey, Steve Haskins can't pull the weight of this cart by himself.

More Evidence That Tommy's Out Of The Loop

The Dodgers hired Grady Little, but only hours before, Tommy Lasorda endorsed Jim Fregosi.

The Corner Office

The Japanese have a tradition of placing failed corporate executives into corner offices with meaningless titles, where they can't hurt anything. The Dodgers must have hoped Tommy Lasorda was in a similar situation before, but now he really is with the announcement that he's going to be an Ambassador At Large for the World Baseball Cup.
"Tommy Lasorda is a baseball icon and is the perfect person to serve as Ambassador for the World Baseball Classic," said Major League Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig. "Tommy has assembled one of the most distinguished careers of anyone in the game, and his experiences in both Major League Baseball and international play will be great assets to the tournament."
I agree, and anything that keeps Tommy out of the Dodgers clubhouse is a good thing.

Lasorda, Transliterated

"Ignorance is not bliss. In this case, ignorance is Tommy", Jon opines, and for all that Fire Tommy Lasorda is something of a gag blog, at the same time it's important to note that I may be wrong about his influence. I've called him "the vampire Lasorda" and a "Rasputin" in the past, but it may well be that I overstate his importance within the organization. Did he call out Buddy Black as a name the Dodgers would be "crucified" for mentioning as a managerial candidate even yesterday? And who do the Dodgers tap the very same day?

I side with Jon. Lasorda may have just bought his ticket to Vice President, Asian Scouting, or some other job that involves being far, far away from Los Angeles. If that is indeed the case, the point of this blog no longer applies, and I shall retire it forthwith. But we still need further evidence of his expulsion from Frank's inner circle.

Fire Jim Bowden Vanishes

Goddammit, Steve, how many blogs are you going to start and then destroy?

Now This Is Hilarious

Despite their occaisional lapses into serious discussion, Dodger Blues mostly tickles our funny bones -- as in today's entry:
Though McCourt won't be attending the general manager meetings that start Tuesday in Palm Springs, Kim Ng and Roy Smith will be representing the Dodgers. They also have interns on-call in the event that Ng and Smith are fired during the meetings. Ng formally interviewed for the GM job over the weekend, although no one is saying much. Wait, let's see if Tommy has something to say. Tommy, what's your opinion of Ng's interview? "What's my opinion of Ng's interview!? What the BLEEP do you think is my opinion of it? I think it was BLEEPING BLEEP. Put that in, I don't BLEEP. Opinion of her interview!!? BLEEP, she's sitting there with two BLEEPING BLEEPS on her chest. What the BLEEP do you mean, 'What is my opinion of her interview?' How could you ask me a question like that, 'What is my opinion of her interview?' BLEEP, she has a BLEEPING BLEEP between her legs! BLEEP. I'm BLEEPING pissed off to have heard that BLEEPING interview. And you ask me my opinion of her interview! BLEEP. That's a tough question to ask me, isn't it? 'What is my opinion of her interview?'

Tommy, Thy Name Is Yard Work

Tommy, you bastard!
I went to work right after DePodsednik went on vacation. Really, who goes on vacation when you’ve got a baseball team to manage? That’s a sign right there that he’s not all right up in his head. First, I hired a bunch of hackers to break into Paul’s e-mail account and spam everyone in the Dodger organization with e-mails from Nigerian businessmen and software salesman and pharmecutical companies and eBay account verifiers, all with Paul’s e-mail address prominently featured. (I got the idea from Billy Plaschke - he’s a great guy, and a fantastic writer. If I were head of the Writer’s Hall of Fame, he’d be first ballot every year, and twice on leap years!)
Thy will be done, on earth as it is in Dodger Stadium...

Not To Be Redundant, But...

From the comments at Jon's (see comment 4):
Not only do the McCourts lack a plan, it may be dawning on them that Tommy Lasorda doesn't have one, either.

No. Not Here, Either.

Oh, no you don't, Tommy. Not this time.

Following Steve's latest creation, perhaps it's time we get at, if not the root of the problem, maybe then one of the big branches.
